Tuning is Std E
Another one for the redo archives. While I redid The Unforgiven cover, I decided that doing the same for Nothing Else Matters needed to happen. This song and the Black Album is what hooked me into Metal and Metallica has been an influence of mine for many years. So I had to re-cover this track and do it proper justice.
I spent an insane amount of time on the orchestral stuff, although it is very subtle in the overall mix, it adds so much more dimension to an already amazing piece of composition. I recreated everything from scratch and, using the isolated tracks found on youtube, was able to get as close as possible to the original recording sound and feel as I could.
For the drums I actually used a plugin called The Black Album Drums from chocolate Audio. This is a really great plugin to have and it mimics the actual drums used on the black album to the tee. Obviously some tweaking on the snare and kick was done to enhanced it a bit, but this plugin really helps a lot to shape that Metallica drum sound. I used a real bass this time and relearned the picking parts on the acoustic. I'm very happy with the outcome of this one, and hopefully I've done the song some justice...Oh and no more vocals!
So here's what was improved since the first video:
1: Accurate drums
2: Accurate timing
3: Real bass guitar
4: accurate orchestral parts
5: Better video quality
6: Proper audio mixing and mastering
7: Closer sounding to the original recording
8: Several improvements on the acoustic picking parts.
9: NO MORE VOCALS.
I included the original music video, so that the timing can be seen as correct and for better effect overall. I also created the final ring out distorted note at the end of the song, by copying and pasting and cross-fading some notes. (It is not really possible to get the feedback using vst plugins)
Hope You Guys Enjoy
Cheers
