Piece Of My Heart - Janis Joplin - ft Kayla Reeves - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
Demonstrating her range and vocal chops, next up for Trans Siberian Orchestra Singer Kayla Reeves is the challenging Janis Joplin tune “Piece Of My Heart”.
Written originally as a funk soul love song, the tune was originally recorded by gospel and soul singer Erma Franklin in 1967.
The song of course became most well known for Janis Joplin’s version which she recorded in 1968 as lead singer of Big Brother and The Holding Company.
The tune would go on to reach number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 becoming Janis’ highest charting song while she was still alive.
The following year Janis performed the song at Woodstock and it would become certified gold as well as her best known song.
We hope you all enjoy Kayla’s version of this classic and please be sure to share what you thought of her version in the comments!
