I had a bit of a hard time following Guns N' Roses after "Appetite For Destruction".

I don't know if I was just stuck in my 80s/early 90s musical ear kind of ways, but their later stuff seemed more tame and more contrived with a few exceptions ("Out Ta Get Me", etc.).

And even though I have personally covered songs that go beyond "Appetite For Destruction", such as "November Rain", etc., it wasn't until a few years ago that I dug into their catalog and appreciated it for what it truly is, some great song writing and great performing.

Giusy had asked if she could do this song and I said "Absolutely! Let's go for it".

I did have one small consternation that I waited until after we did the song to tell Giusy about, so it didn't ruin the song for her, ha ha.

If you really read the lyrics closely, the talk around Hollywood was that it was a song about Axl having a fling with some groupie, and basically dumping her off at a bus stop, 400 miles after the previous show, and trying to console her after he bailed on her (no kidding).

I hope this didn't destroy this song for you. And I hope that this isn't true! However, I have seen this exact scenario many many times in rock 'n' roll, and truly everyone is at fault. Meaning both parties.

So while it is a heartwarming "look up to the sky because God is going to help you" lyric, sometimes, we might just need to read between the lines.

And not to be dark about this, but I want to be clear, because I believe that what we put out there matters.

I remember doing Heart's "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You" and not realizing until after we recorded it, how amoral those lyrics were.

It's tough on my end because so much music is about lifestyle and promotes things that go against my personal faith and belief.

So I can pick and sift through as much as I can.

Sorry if this post comes across as judgmental. It is not meant to be that way at all. It is simply sharing my personal beliefs and faith, just like everyone else is doing when they write songs in which they promote what they believe and live out.
