I wasn't really going to do this but a friend encouraged me to do it so ... I did it. Hope I did it... right. uh... so, I saw a vid. Surfed to another vid. Another vid. Heard this tune and was just so mesmerized by the vocoder sound (as I always am) and listened to it over and over and... I bet I added 50 views at least on that video. So, here is some info you might want to know.
This tune is from their 2013 album, "Random Access Memories".
What I used to recreate it:
Vocoder effect: Vocoder from Reaper into Omnisphere 2. Three different synth patches, one for each harmony. Tons of tweaking (houuuuurs) to get it sounding decent.
"Real" vocals are just me with a little pitch shifting on the high harmony and that part is doubled. The lower one is not.
Drums: Addictive Drums 2. Clap sounds added to the snare from another sample library.
Bass sound: Omnisphere 2.
Synths: Omnisphere 2.
I decided why not add a little funky guitar so... I did. That gold color is actually my green Strat with the green removed due to green screen chroma keying. But man, I like it! I wish mine was gold now. The guitar sound has a phase shifter on it in case you didn't know.
A tutorial on how one guy (not me) who also redid this can be found here:
